Resumo

du e her unit on The M dyssey. She aV presentations, w oksheets, and quizzes on the anci t Greeks with special attention ti he Trojan War, identification dte Greek gods, and th ptt f the hero cycle, along ...with vocabulary words from Greek roots, some of which would actually appear in the text when students would begin to read the epic nearly two weeks later. This kind of introduction to a classic is common and understandable; I have seen it often, and I have done it myself. But such unit introductions seem to me potentially troubling, too, in what they suggest to students about reading the classics.
