ResumoIn this Invited Paper, a Gashapon machine as an analogy to a ball‐miller–the rolling and collision of capsule toys in the former is similar to the experience of solid reactants in the latter. The mechanical force used to grind solid mixtures of pseudorotaxanes and stoppers (or, for slippage, macrocycles and dumbbell‐shaped threads) in a ball‐miller can drive reactions to afford rotaxanes with high efficiency under conditions of no solvent (or only a trace). Such behavior mimics the operation of a Gashapon machine: the mechanical force used to roll and collide the capsule toys can lead to delightful surprises! More details about this picture will be discussed by Dr. Sheng‐Hsien Chiu on page 134–145 in this issue. image
