ResumoThe most recent Association Internationale de Linguistique Appliquée (or International Association of Applied Linguistics / AILA) Congress took place in July, 2017 in Rio de Janeiro. As part of the congress the Research Network on Learner Autonomy (ReNLA) held a symposium entitled “Learner autonomy in today’s developed and developing world” on July 25th, 2017. The AILA ReNLA focuses on learner autonomy in foreign/second language learning and teaching. It also includes a variety of sub-topics such as learner development, learner identity and agency, self-access and advising, learning beyond the classroom, e-learning and teacher autonomy. With about 500 members from all around the world, RenLA facilitates networking for academics and research students in the field.
