Resumo

The importance of the potholes for everyday survival and leisure practices is still vivid in the memory of old dwellers and citizens of Lajedo. Although the potholes are fragmented and polluted, transforming them into tourist attractions and integrating the municipality to the existing tourist circuit in the region is one of the economic alternatives to this area, which consists of unique geological features. This study aims to engage residents in the preservation of this threatened natural heritage and encourage shared responsibility for its economic destination. For this, we used the methodology of action research, and the social network Facebook as the main tool of awareness, engagement and interaction with the current residents of the municipality and individuals residing in other locations. As a result of this work, we present the debate on the current and future use of the potholes, evidenced by the interest of the 1,567 people who liked the Potholes Cause on Facebook, as well as the presence mobilization that resulted in the clearing of the site and a symbolic embrace.
