This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: The objective of this review is to determine the optimal method of inducing abortion in the second trimester of pregnancy. Medical and surgical methods will be compared with regard to efficacy, side effects, adverse events, and acceptability.
