ResumoThis study aims to relate ergonomic concepts to the Intranet, an adequate information technology (IT) network used by the Brazilian army, and its implications for the quality of work life and productivity. The research was based on a literature review and on interviews with Brazilian army officers at managing positions at a military unit in Ponta Grossa, Paraná.The study included reflections about the benefits obtained by the use of IT tools in organizations as well as the analysis of managers´ perceptions regarding the influence of the use of an IT tool on productivity. The study concluded that units that use the Intranet or another form of IT tool, that follow ergonomics' policies and, encourage the practice of regular physical activity, are committed to the quality of life and growth of their subordinates, which in turn brings better use of human and material resources.
