Ein auf Goldnanopartikeln beruhender Lichtstreuungs-Assay ermöglicht den empfindlichen Nachweis der DNA-Hybridisierung. Der Assay nutzt die verstärkte Lichtstreuung als Folge der durch die Ziel-DNA ausgelösten Aggregation von Oligonucleotid-funktionalisierten Goldnanopartikeln. Er unterscheidet außerdem sehr genau zwischen perfekt passender Ziel-DNA und Zielen mit einzelnen Basenfehlpaarungen.
