Resumo

The distribution coefficient of divalent manganese in sodium chloride single crystals grown from the melt was determined by Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) absorption techniques at room temperature and at a wavelength of 3 cm. The crystals were grown by a method similar to that described by Kyropoulos. There were two initial concentrations from which the crystals were grown: 0.5 and 1 at.% manganese in sodium chloride. Graphs were obtained that show the dependence of the fractional impurity concentration as a function of the fraction of melt which has been solidified.
