Elusive products of carbene rearrangements, such as cycloheptatetraenes and bridgehead alkenes, have also been stabilized by incarceration. Carbenes attack hemicarcerand hosts less readily than cyclodextrins whose hydroxy groups are the preferred sites of reaction.
