Resumo

An underground street sound/grassroots musical movement suddenly became an overwhelming force in the fabulous world of high fashion – Lil' Kim, Mary J. Blige, and Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott share a group shot in Vogue illustrating an article entitled "Rapper's Deluxe," and Puff Daddy sits front row at the Versace couture show in Paris. Designer fashion wasn't the only avenue that profited from the growth of hip hop style. Black designers like Cross Colours and Karl Kani spearheaded the empowering moment when baggy jeans first came on the scene. Music and fashion make quite a good team – look at Jon Bon Jovi or Courtney Love and Gianni Versace, Madonna and Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Anna Molinari. The two communities influence each other artistically and philosophically.
