ResumoOne of the important problems of strategic missile defense is discrimination between decoys and reentry vehicles (RVs). During midcourse flight, a ground-based HPM system could modify (by a physical damage mechanism) the radar cross section and/or the velocity of decoys (and decoy-camouflaged RVs), characteristics that are easily observable by microwave and optical radars.
