Resumo

The Além-Paraíba Lineament is a narrow and planar zone of blastomylonitic rocks, know to extend at least between the localities of Volta Redonda (RJ) and Itaocara(RJ), along a minimum extension of 240 km. Detailed work in the Três Rios area allow to establish a polyphasic evolution for this struture, as earlier isotropic rocks of granulite facies show intensive reworking imprints due to cataclastic deformation, recovery, recrystallization,folding, transposition, and incipient migmatization, under conditions of amphibolite facies. Transcurrent movements, crenulation, granite and pegmatite intrusions, and a strong thermal event occurred at the end of the Brasiliano Cycle. Younger reactivation with normal displacements and diabese and alkaline intrusions are related to the meso-cenozoic time, and seismic evidences suggest some small tectonic adjustment even today.
