Develop a Rotation in Occupational Medicine and Make It Available Through the New ACOEM Practicum Rotation Compendium ACOEM is facilitating the transfer of information from members interested in offering residency practicum rotations to residency directors and OM residents. To do this, ACOEM is developing, maintaining, and publishing a compendium of practicum rotation opportunities. In addition, ACOEM is supporting an educational series of presentations at ACOEM spring and fall conferences for members interested in improving their skills in developing and conducting practicum rotation experiences. Several of these presentations have already been very successful, and they are expected to continue at each future conference. These seminars are geared toward developing skills in specifying educational objectives of a rotation and describing the rotation and the experiences which will allow the resident to meet the educational objectives. Entering a rotation description into the ACOEM Compendium creates no obligation to offer the rotation or accept a particular resident or a resident at a particular time. A description of a rotation may be modified or withdrawn at any time. Any placement of a resident must be individually agreed upon between a residency director and the rotation preceptor. It is understood that circumstances change frequently and that any attribute of a rotation may have limited availability or may become temporarily or permanently unavailable. If you are interested in making an existing or newly developed practicum rotation opportunity known through the ACOEM Compendium, please write or fax your request to Susan Adamowski, EdD, Director of Education (see the information below). You will receive a form to facilitate rotation description and instructions for preparing the description. A well-written rotation description is an accreditation requirement for OM residencies according to the Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Further detailed assistance is available upon request; the CME seminars mentioned above are especially designed for this purpose, and individual assistance is always available. Send requests for information about offering a rotation to: Susan Adamowski, EdD; Director of Education; The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine; 55 West Seegers Road; Arlington Heights, IL 60005; 847-228-6850; fax: 847-228-1856 Important Proposed Amendment to the Bylaws of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine The Board of Directors of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) recommends adoption of the following proposed bylaw amendment.
