The main purpose of this monograph is to present the results of a comprehensive look at information available relating to accuracy of statements made about smoking habits, in particular about the frequency with which smokers are misclassified as non-smokers, and to illustrate the effects such misclassiflcation can have on epidemiological studies of passive smoking and lung cancer and their interpretation.
