This second edition of Morrison's Fetal and Neonatal Pathology is a thoughtful, conservative, reasoned exposition of the pathophysiology of the fetus and the newborn. Unlike its counterparts of American origin, it is not a handbook or reference aid for the accurate histopathologic diagnosis of diseases of the infant. Dr. Morrison paints with much broader brush strokes; he exercises his clinical and broad pathological experience in assessing the validity of the various clichés in the pathology of this period of life almost to the point of irritation. He analyzes and integrates the facts of the disease processes rather than merely describing the anatomic derangements. He interests himself particularly in the physiology of the normal adjustments to extra-uterine life and its disorders. The book has a strong personal touch.
