Autores ResumoKonzeption und Kompilation der Schedelschen Weltchronik. By Bernd Posselt. (Monumenta Germaniae Historica, Schriften, 71.) Stuttgart: Franz Steiner Verlag. 2015. liv + 618 pp. + 16 illus. €84. isbn 978 3 447 10434 0. Whereas many previous studies of Hartmann Schedel's Nuremberg Chronicle have focused on aspects of its production and its splendid illustrations, this major new book concentrates on identifying Schedel's sources and showing how he used and adapted them for his purposes. In particular Posselt examines Schedel's use of Bartholomeo Platina's Vitae pontificum, Giacomo Filippo Foresti's Supplementum chronicarum, Enea Silvio Piccolomini's Europa, and Werner Rolevinck's Fasciculus temporum. An appendix provides a detailed overview of the content of the Chronicle and of the sources identified so far.
