ResumoTwo more teams are developing hydrogen fuel cell powered Class 8 heavy trucks that will be trialed in demonstrations at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach in southern California. US Hybrid has unveiled a Navistar International port drayage truck featuring its PEM fuel cell engine, while Kenworth is developing a prototype Class 8 tractor unit powered by a PEM fuel cell engine supplied by Canadian-based Ballard Power Systems. These join the Toyota ‘Project Portal’ truck unveiled last month for the Port of Los Angeles [FCB, April 2017, p1], which is also based on a Kenworth chassis.
