ResumoCocos Island is located in the Pacific Ocean midway between the Costa Rican coast and the Galapagos Archipelago and belongs to the Cocos tectonic plate volcanism. This island was long coveted by many people, including President Theodore Roosevelt, searching for the Lima Treasury buried by pirates but never found. Today the treasury of the island is it wildlife preserve. Cocos island is the emerged part of the Cocos tectonic plate and is a volcanic island raised during the Quaternary. Here we present the two volcanic episodes that built up the island.
