Este artigo, além de breve história do hexâmetro dactílico vernáculo antes de Carlos Alberto Nunes, é também e sobretudo reflexão sobre os princípios métrico-prosódi-cos que têm orientado a aclimatação desse metro ao português.ABSTRACTThis paper is both a brief history of the dactylic hexameter in Portuguese before Carlos Alberto Nunes and a study of the metrical and prosodical principles that underline its origin and development.Keywords: Dactylic hexameter; Portuguese hexameter; Metrics; Prosody; Classical poetry in translation.
