Gegen die Wand: Lipid-II-Analoga mit modifizierten Peptideinheiten wurden als Substrate der bakteriellen Transglycosylase getestet. D-Lactat und L-Alanin an den ersten beiden Positionen (siehe Schema), und insbesondere deren Methylgruppen, sind essenziell für die Substratbindung.
