Resumo

Executives have, as part of their problem solving activities, the responsibility of making decisions.[1] This applies not only to top executives but also to management personnel at the several echelons of authority. Furthermore, the ideas on decision making apply equally well to vendors, customers, and competitors. Each is faced with the problem of selecting from various alternatives in order to arrive at a decision in solving his problems. All decisions, routine or non-routine, are important when the profitability of the company and satisfaction of the customer are concerned. All decisions at all levels of importance are significant in the growth and development of the firm and its management personnel. The purpose of this paper is to explore Some of the elements of decision making that are common to all decisions.[2] The emphasis will be on decision making from the point of view of top management, although what is said is generally applicable to all decisions.
