ResumoThe Goeckerman regimen of crude coal tar application to all skin areas, followed by ultraviolet irradiations has continued as the basic treatment for the severely involved hospitalized psoriatic patient at the Mayo Clinic. A review indicates ready patient acceptance, good clinical benefit, and an absence of complications from therapy. The average duration of remissions induced by this therapy seems longer than of those occurring spontaneously.
