Resumo

This paper reviews various Canadian legal requirements to publish laws, including in international trade agreements, reviews various Canadian governmental copyright notices relating to the publication of laws, reviews case law relating to copyright in laws and in particular claims by world-leading legal publishers to have copyright in the page numbers of the court decisions they publish, reviews the leadership of the Cornell Legal Information Institute and the Australasian Legal Information Institute and recommends various improvements for the future.
