Leuchtmarker: Eine Serie von aktivierbaren ("einschaltbaren") Tetrazin-konjugierten Fluoreszenzsonden wurde entwickelt, die durch schnelle [4+2]-Cycloadditionen mit inversem Elektronenbedarf an sterisch gespannte Dienophile wie trans-Cycloocten addieren, wodurch es zu einem drastischen Anstieg der Fluoreszenzaktivität kommt (siehe Bild). Die neuen "Einschalt"-Sonden wurden für die intrazelluläre Bildgebung lebender Zellen mit einem an Mikrotubuli bindenden trans-Cycloocten-modifizierten Taxol verwendet.
