At the end of 1959, there appeared in Buenos Aires Rafael Alberti's La arboleda perdida. Libros I y II de memorias. Alberti had published the first book of these memoirs in Mexico in 1948, but this closed with the day in 1917 when the poet's family left Puerto de Santa María for Madrid. The 1959 edition, more than three times as long as that of 1948, deals with the poet's life up to 1931, thus taking in the beginnings of Alberti's interest in poetry and the composition of all the books of his pre-communist period. It therefore offers to the student of Alberti's poetry a wealth of new and fascinating material.
