Resumo

Photoallergic contact sensitivity can occur with almost any chemical sunscreen agent, including para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and its derivatives, salicylates, cinnamates, anthranilates, benzophenones, and dibenzoylmethanes.1 Reactions to butyl-methoxydibenzoylmethane (BMDM, Parsol 1789) have been reported rarely from Europe, with contact allergy reported in only four patients, and photocontact allergy in only nine.2–6 To date reactions to BMDM have not been reported in the United States, perhaps because it has only recently been introduced here.
