Resumo

The best available pair potentials of Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe derived from second virial coefficient and low-pressure gas transport data are used to calculate the lattice parameter, sublimation energy, and bulk modulus for the solids at 0°K. If pairwise additivity is assumed for the interatomic forces in the solid, the agreement with experiment is poor. Inclusion of the Axilrod—Teller triple-dipole force improves the agreement with experiment but discrepancies still remain. Possible reasons for these discrepancies are discussed.
