In Salman Rushdie´s writings, one can observe the importance of cinema not only in his novels but also in his essays.This paper aims to investigate, first, the author´s approach to Western movies and to the so-called Bombay cinema and their influence in his writings.Then I analyze Rushdie´s novel Midnight´s children, focusing mainly on how Bombay films are turned into a model for his writing and on the incorporation of filmic terms and language into his narrative.Finally, I discuss Rushdie´s adaptations of this novel into a play and a film script and their reception by critics and viewers.
