ResumoThis article aims to characterize the reality of artisanal fishing in the municipality of Xambioá, Tocantins, considering the technological, economic and social profile of local artisanal fishermen.The survey method was used, the data were obtained through the application of 48 structured questionnaires with the artisanal fishermen affiliated to the Z-4 colony.Among the results, it was highlighted that the fishermen of Xambioá own their own instruments of work and have in the artisanal fishing their main economic activity.However, they do not have control of information on the expenditure and do not aim family succession in the fishing activity.
