ResumoThe article aims to verify if the patterns and trends founded in an earlier work (Carreirão and Nascimento, 2010) -that analyzed the Brazilian political parties strategies in the elections for governor, senator, federal deputy and state deputy in the whole country, between 1986 and 2006 -still continue functioning or if some relevant change occurred in the last general elections contested in Brazil.Using the same earlier form of variables treatment we conclude that were maintained the same trends founded in the previous period with the increase in the inconsistency of the alliances, considering the ideological dimension or the government/opposition dimension (related to the
