Resumo

FOLLOWING the release, earlier this year, of information concerning the long‐fuselage versions of the Boeing 707 and Douglas DC‐8 capable of accommodating 250 passengers—the 707–820 and DC‐8 Models 61 and 63 respectively—British Overseas Airways Corporation has confirmed a requirement for five or six such airliners. The type chosen would have to be available for service in 1968–9, be capable of carrying 250 passengers and would be required to have unit (direct) operating costs at least 15 per cent lower than those currently achieved by B.O.A.C.'s fleet of Boeing 707–436 airliners.
