Resumo

In four cases of tinea faciei due to Trichophyton mentagrophytes each patient's dermatosis was clinically deceptive, and had masqueraded under diagnoses such as lupus erythematosus or contact dermatitis for periods of up to five months. A greater awareness of the possibility of unusual forms of facial ringworm should increase the number of cases in which it is correctly diagnosed .
