ResumoTYPE: Late Breaking Abstract TOPIC: Procedures PURPOSE: A retrospective observational study was conducted between 2017-2019 in the Children's Rehabilitation Wing of Balneal and Rehabilitation Sanatorium Techirghiol, concerning the management of muscular dystrophy (MD) cases. During the pandemic children with MD where not admitted for treatment. METHODS: The pathology we have considered is rare, so all types of MD have been included. We checked how often these children were admitted per year, what type of treatment was administered, if any side effects were reported and if any difference was reported for the Techirghiol mud as means of heating stiffened tissues before stretches, which were also used when performing respiratory rehabilitation using the Pectoralis Major, Pectoralis Minor and Diaphragm. RESULTS: All the children admitted over this 3 years course have been given therapeutic Techirghiol mud warm general wraps at 38⁰- 40⁰C, for 20-30 minutes, daily or every 2 days. There were no major side effects reported and patients and PTs have also reported easier to do stretches and longer time of maintaining the results. CONCLUSIONS: Children suffering from MD need very soft stretches to prevent tearing of the muscles and/or tendons fibres, so the structures need to be prepared before exercising. It is yet to be determined which of the means available for preparation are the most effective. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: Nonfarmacologic treatment should be used to manage the patient with muscular dystrophy. DISCLOSURE: No significant relationships. KEYWORD: dystrophy
