ResumoBees are considered the main pollinating agents in different biomes; however, anthropic and environmental changes have led to the occurrence of nests of social species in urban spaces. However, there is still little information about the species of social stingless bees in these environments. This research carried out an inventory of social stingless nests in an anthropized area. Nests were surveyed on the campus of the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia, Cruz das Almas, Bahia, Brazil. For a month, external areas were surveyed and prepared to mark the location of the nests. The nests found were monitored for nine months through direct observation, determining permanence or abandonment. The survey found 107 active nests belonging to seven species: Melipona scutellaris, Nannotrigona testaceicornis, Oxytrigona tataira, Partamona helleri, Scaptotrigona xanthotricha, Tetragonisca angustula, and Trigona spinipes. The main nesting substrates used by bees were trees, walls, windows, roofs, and construction waste, and trees were the preferred substrates for nesting (83.18%). The monitoring of the inventoried nests showed that there was no capture or abandonment. This study confirms the preference of social stingless bees for trees as a substrate for nesting, presenting greater numbers of established nests, highlighting the need for conservation and management plans for the reforestation of plant species.
