Autores ResumoIn winter 2014, I visited the Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lisbon for the first time. The primary goal of that research trip was to find documents on diplomatic tensions between Portugal and the United Kingdom throughout the second half of the nineteenth century. I was particularly interested in the diplomatic incidents triggered by practices carried out in the Portuguese colonies in Africa, which London perceived as a breach of trust upon which the 1842 Anglo-Portuguese Anti-Slavery Treaty was based.
