ResumoThe study of Lewis' acid-base theory from the reactions of phenolic substances in medicinal plants. This study is a proposal for a simple execution experiment, which uses easy to acquire, low cost materials, with the theme of medicinal plants, enabling approaches to Chemistry, Physics and Biology concepts.By infusion, six phenolic substances were extracted from six medicinal plants, which were made to react with a 1% (w/v) aqueous solution of ferric chloride to form salts of different colors, according to the number of hydroxyls present in their structures. The experiment enables a study of Chemistry, through the approach of organic functions and the study of Lewis acid-base theory and correlating color, energy and light.
