Resumo

The significant development of river protection measures is based on the substantial rise of global warming, an unpredicted hurricane with strange trajectories, intensity, and volume. Groyne, a typical structure in the river and coastal training works, has appeared as one of the most effective methods with many advantages in dealing with many present backlog problems. Groynes are often used to prevent riverbank erosion, control river flows, and stabilize riverbeds to improve river and riverine ecosystems. Currently, the determination of the groyne spacing is usually based on experimental models and formulas. In this study, to reveal and provide reference outputs, the authors used MIKE 21 FM model to evaluate the Groynes embankment system's impact and benefits on Ha Thanh river Binh's hydraulic regime Dinh province, Vietnam. As a result, the scenario simulation results would clarify specific features such as its angle, length, and distance between the embankments. Then, it would be adjusted to give the reference optimal layout corresponding to the economic situation and for the hydraulic regime in different applied areas. This case study is used to calculate the left side of the Ha Thanh riverbank and could be considered as a valuable reference for applying in similar and contiguous areas.
