ResumoAs the authors of this Legacy tribute, we span multiple generations of Grubbs group alumni and possess unique perspectives on Bob throughout his life and career. Bob mentored his son, Barney (born 1972), as a father and later as a colleague. Bob Waymouth performed his graduate studies with Bob at Caltech (1982–1987). Shortly thereafter, Jeff Moore joined the Grubbs group as a postdoctoral scholar (1989–1990). Two decades later, Ben Suslick entered the lab as an undergraduate researcher (2012–2014). Despite not overlapping, we all share a common impression of our time working with Bob. We fondly remember our time with Bob and wish to commemorate the profound impact that he left on our lives and careers.
