Tópico(s)Adsorption and biosorption for pollutant removal
ResumoWastewater generally contains environmentally persistent dyes. They must therefore be treated to eliminate the pollutants. This study aimed to assess the ability to eliminate methyl red in aqueous medium of two clays from Côte d'Ivoire referenced AK1 and AK2. The clays were characterized by various techniques (SEM/EDX, FTIR, BET surface areas and pore structures, etc.). The optimum conditions for the elimination of the dye were obtained in an acid medium (pH = 2) for an equilibrium time equal to 25 min. The dye adsorption capacity was 90 % and 70 % for AK1 and AK2 respectively.
