ResumoThis text introduces the third section of The Unexpected in Oral History: Case Studies of Surprising Interviews, which contains chapters authored by Luciana Heymann and Verena Alberti, Daisy Perelmutter, Bernardo Borges Buarque de Hollanda and Raphael Rajão Ribeiro, and José Eduardo Aceves Lozano. The introduction charts how narrators perform unique memory operations during oral history interviews, and the interpretative responsibility the researcher has in illuminating the possible meanings of these operations when presenting an oral history to the public.
