ResumoSummaryThe longevity of three species of Drosophila was studied throughout one year under semi-natural conditions in Portugal. The first generation of individuals captured near Sintra-Colares was used. The survivorship curves show for both sexes several plateaux devoid of mortality. In D. subobscura, females live significantly longer than males. Winter longevity is generally higher than in other seasons, due probably to the low temperatures experienced at the beginning of this period. An apparent correlation between longevity and sexual immaturity time seems to result from the concomitant increase of the two parameters as the temperature decreases.
