ResumoThe Front Cover shows the coordination chemistry of vanadium complexes supported by a dianionic bis-phenolate benzimidazolylidene ligand. This ligand is capable of stabilizing vanadium in the three different oxidation states +V, +IV, and + III, which can all be interconverted, giving rise to a “triforce of redox-states”. Overall, 21 new vanadium complexes are explored by chemical, electrochemical, and spectroscopic means. The parameters obtained are linked to the chemical properties of the corresponding supporting ligands, especially comparing the influence of oxo vs. imido ligands on the V(V/IV) redox couple. Furthermore, interesting precursors for higher functionalized molecular architectures are presented in the form of a series of NHC supported dihalide vanadium(IV) complexes, opening a bright future for vanadium NHC chemistry. More information can be found in the Research Article by S. Hohloch and co-workers.
