This article reconstructs the editorial genesis of the publication of Giorgos Seferis's Trois poèmes secrets and provides an analysis of Yves Bonnefoy's translation of the first composition in the collection, Sur un soleil d'hiver. The historical reconstruction has at its basis the study of the epistolary documents of Giorgos and Marò Seferis, Yves Bonnefoy, Lorand Gaspar and Simone Gallimard in the Seferis Archive of the Gennadius Library of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens. These documents enable us to understand the role played by Bonnefoy at different stages of the publication, and shed new light on the close ties between him and Seferis. The analysis aims to identify the characteristic features of Bonnefoy's translation of Πάνω σε μια χειμωνιάτικη αχτίνα, in the light of his reflections on the act of translation, and to show the exceptional nature of the collaboration between the two poets.
