With the significant presence of humanoid and social robots in public spaces or households, it is essential to consider how what a robot is wearing (if it is dressed at all) affects its perception of people interacting with it. Fashion serves as a way of communication between us and the world. It has several functions, such as practical (covering of a body); being part of identity, and self-expression through clothing. Is any of these remarks might be applied towards robots? The article analyses the possible motivations behind the use of clothing in the case of social robots, as well as indicates applications and research development in this topic. Social robots are becoming companions in our lives, and their image (not limited to the design of their "bodies") significantly influences our perception of them, so the topic of robot clothing should be given special consideration.
