Resumo

Current Opinion in Allergy and Clinical Immunology was launched in 2001. It is one of a successful series of review journals whose unique format is designed to provide a systematic and critical assessment of the literature as presented in the many primary journals. The fields of allergy and clinical immunology are divided into 14 sections that are reviewed once a year. Each section is assigned a Section Editor, a leading authority in the area, who identifies the most important topics at that time. Here we are pleased to introduce the Journal's Section Editors for this issue. SECTION EDITORS Luciana TannoLuciana TannoDr Luciana Kase Tanno, MD PhD, is an allergist and clinical immunologist with training at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she developed her PhD project. All along her training, she was awarded with many national and international prizes due to the work developed in the field of anaphylaxis, drug hypersensitivity and pharmaco-genetics. She had a visiting investigator position at the Department of Pharmacogenetics of the University of Liverpool, UK, in 2011, and was awarded with the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) clinical fellowship at the Division of Allergy, Department of Pneumologie and Addictologie, Hôpital Arnaud de Villeneuve – CHU de Montpellier, France, in 2012. She has been a professor in health science: allergy and clinical immunology at the Postgraduate Program in Health Sciences, Medical Assistance to the São Paulo State Civil Servants since 2014, and has developed her post-doctoral fellowship at the Departement of Pneumologie and Addictologie, University Hospital of Montpellier and the Sorbonne Universités, France. Since 2007, Dr Tanno has been a frequent speaker in national and international congresses and has contributed with over 130 peer-review publications on anaphylaxis, drug allergy, epidemiology, classification of allergic and hypersensitivity conditions, International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and other WHO international classifications, and public health. Dr Tanno has been actively involved in activities addressed to Junior Members (JMs) worldwide, contributed as founding member of the Brazilian Allergy Society (ASBAI) JMs and the World Allergy Organization (WAO) JMs group. She currently serves as senior advisor of the WAO JMs. Since 2012, she has led the ALLERGY in ICD-11 initiative to increase the visibility of allergic and hypersensitivity conditions in the World Health Organization's ICD, being responsible for the construction of the first section addressed to these conditions in the ICD-11. Currently, Dr Tanno is director of the WHO Montpellier Collaborating Centre on Scientific Classification Support at the University Hospital of Montpellier, researcher at the Desbrest Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health, UA-11 INSERM, UMP, Montpelier. She serves as a member of the board of directors of WAO and of the French Allergy Society (SFA), and co-chair of the anaphylaxis special committees of both WAO and SFA. Dean NaisbittDean NaisbittDean Naisbitt is a Professor of Drug Safety Science at The University of Liverpool, UK. He has developed practical and conceptual means to combine aspects of genetics, cell biology and chemistry in order to study the fundamental principles of immunological drug reactions. He has established sophisticated immunological platforms to study emerging drug safety issues with an immune pathogenesis using HLA-typed lymphocytes isolated from patients and drug-naïve volunteers. Dr Naisbitt has been recognized with several honours and awards including the ISSX New Investigator Award, the British Pharmacological Society Novartis prize and the ACS Chemical Research in Toxicology Young Investigator award. He has published over 180 research articles in the field of drug allergy. Giovanni PaolettiGiovanni PaolettiDr Giovanni Paoletti, MD, graduated from the Medical School at the University of Cagliari, Italy. He received his specialty degree in allergy and clinical immunology. He was a winner of a research grant in 2018 and he then started working as an adjunct teaching professor at Humanitas University, Milan, Italy. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Personalized Medicine Asthma & Allergy Clinic of Humanitas University & Research Hospital, Milan, Italy. His research interests concern allergen-specific immunotherapy, biologic treatments, airway inflammation and pharmacotherapy of respiratory allergy. He has been a member of the Methodology Committee of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) since 2020, and he has been a National Representative of Junior Members and an official member of the Executive Committee of the Italian Society of Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology (SIAAIC) since 2019. He is the author of many different publications in peer-reviewed journals. Danilo Di BonaDanilo Di BonaDr Danilo Di Bona is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Bari, Italy, and the Director of the Postgraduate School of Allergology and Clinical immunology at the Bari School of Medicine. He is experienced in clinical research, data analysis, systematic reviews, and meta-analysis, and he is the current secretary of the EAACI Methodology Committee and a qualified guideline panelist. He also gained experience in laboratory research in the early part of his career. His main fields of interest are allergen immunotherapy, rhino-conjunctivitis, and asthma. He also has experience in pharmaco-econometric studies in these fields. He is currently involved in projects aimed at assessing the role of nonrandomized studies as sources of information for relevant guidelines.
