ResumoA novel green synthesis of cobalt oxide nanoparticles (Co3O4-NPs) has been conducted using Caccinia macranthera seed extract as a renewable and non-toxic reducing agent. The biosynthesized nanoparticles have been characterized through different analyses such as TGA/DTA, XRD, FESEM, EDAX, FT-IR, and UV–Vis. Based on the XRD results, the crystallite size of Co3O4-NPs was in the range of 30–45 nm. The FESEM images displayed that Co3O4-NPs have a granular shape. The MTT assay's results showed an acceptable anticancer feature of the Co3O4-NPs owing to their suitable IC50 value (375 µg/mL). In addition, the photocatalytic activity of Co3O4-NPs against methylene blue (MB) dye degradation was assessed, and the results pointed to the fact that Co3O4-NPs showed more than 89% degradation effect on MB dye after 105 min.
