ResumoThe Scottish confession of faith was voted and approved by the Three Estates of the realm in the Scottish Parliament of 1560, against the will of the Crown. The Scottish nobles, the main pillar of religious reform in Scotland – and a preponderant force in the Scottish Parliament –, in an overwhelming majority, enthusiastically embraced the reformed theses. Starting from the concept of confessionalization, especially from the criticism of Rui Luis Rodrigues, this article intends to discuss the political significance of the Scottish Parliament's leading role in the reception of the first Scottish confession of faith – in addition to the insertions in the aforementioned confession with, however indirect, political content.
