ResumoThis article aims to analyze the Ernesto Geisel government (1974-1979) and human rights. The business-military dictatorship since its inception has used 'State Terrorism', based on the premises of the National Security Doctrine and the Revolutionary War Doctrine, to repress the opposition. The reflection is inserted in the context of the transition from dictatorship to democracy in Brazil and aims to understand how the Armed Forces used political repression in the period and how the demand for respect for human rights occurred, both by internal pressure and by foreign organizations, exiles politicians and the Jimmy Carter administration (1977-1981).
