ResumoRabat, the capital city of Morocco is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has been designated by the International Organization for the Promotion of the Islamic World Cultural Heritage (ICESCO) as the “Capital of Culture of the Islamic World 2022”. Among ICESCO’s main objectives is the theoretical and practical definition of the “Museum of the future for the city of Rabat”, a hybrid space, both digital and physical, where knowledge, interaction, and creativity take place. The main objective of this research is the definition of a missing practical framework (processes and technological tools) for the realization of the “Museum of the Future in Rabat”. This chapter proposes a framework which will be applied to Rabat in general and specifically to the archaeological site of Chellah, one of the most important monuments in Rabat holding an outstanding historical value. Heritage Building Information Modelling (HBIM) will be used for the development of an information model directly generated from a point cloud, which will in turn serve as a basis for the creation of an immersive and interactive virtual experience through a virtual reality platform. Physical scale models will also be produced with new advanced fabrication techniques, and these models will be connected to their digital twin through QR codes. The virtual and physical models will constitute the exhibition material of the digital museum.
