Resumo

In recent decades, there has been significant progress and evolution in the production of nanohybrid materials for analytical applications. Manipulating the physical–chemical properties of materials at the nanoscale has led to the development of materials with new properties for several application, including clinical diagnosis, new drug formulas, green energy technology and environmental monitoring. Nanomaterials have played important roles as sorbents in sample preparation steps and stationary phases in separation techniques, as well as in the creation of sensitive detection sensors with greater sensitivity, selectivity and speed, lower costs and greater potential for miniaturization and automation. Factors such as shape, size and functional groups have been studied to achieve success in the implementation of nanomaterials with multifunctionality in several applications. This critical review of the literature on nanohybrid materials focuses on carbon dots (CDs), metallic, magnetic, polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) and metal–organic frameworks (MOF), highlighting their potential and challenges in analytical and bioanalytical applications.
